Looking to deepen your practice but not interested in becoming a yoga teacher? This course is a 5 class series, or you can join in for one topic at a time. For the History portion we will be discussing yoga's roots, key literature, concepts and vocabulary. Come with an open mind and as we travel back to our roots.

In the breath segment, we will focus on what pranayama (breath) is, how to control it utilizing different techniques and how to incorporate pranayama into our current yoga practice.

In the posture segment, we will focus on key postures in the 'Modern Vinyasa Yoga System'. We will focus on alignment, benefits, contraindications and methods on how to improve each.

The mind class will be focused on meditation. We will learn what meditation is, how to utilize it in our daily lives and why it plays such a significant role in the path of yoga. We will discuss mantras, mala beads, the "best" ways to meditate and different techniques you can practice daily.

This class will be casual, incorporating traditional yoga techniques and postures with contemporary mobility modalities such as lacrosse balls and foam rollers. Thoughtful adjustments and hands on assists are an important and rapidly disappearing skill when it comes to the yoga room these days. The pendulum has swung from the days of sitting on the kurmasana of a student in order to flatten them out, to attempts at guiding through only words. This workshop will give both experienced teachers and those newer to the front of the room, the format to turn any shape into an opportunity for deep physical and energetic dialogue. We will discuss the ground rules of adjusting, how to set and work from clear intention, how to see the bodies in front of you and unpack what you can do to be of service, and even explore some of classic and funky adjustments to add to your tool box. Come with or without a person to adjust and a willingness to get down to it. Expect lots of hands on work, and communicating with old and new friends alike.

We seek to honor the entire practice in ever class, however the focus is often diverted to two of the 8 limbs: postures and breathwork. This class seeks to serve the other 6 limbs.
